Greene and Lazarre-White discuss the themes in this coming of age novel and Lazarre-White's work with The Brotherhood/Sister Sol, a youth organization which he co-founded in 1995. Brotherhood/Sister Sol provides comprehensive programming on issues such as leadership, educational achievement, social justice and politics.  Passage is the story of Warrior, a young Black man growing up in urban New York City. Warrior is an old soul carrying the memories of his ancestors and surrounded by a loving mother, father and sister. His journey addresses the spiritual, emotional and social needs of Warrior.  Although the novel takes place in the 1990s, it also reflects the challenges facing young Black men today.
