Founded in 1995, Bro/Sis provides comprehensive, holistic and long-term support services to youth who range in age from 8-22. We offer wrap around evidence-based programming. We focus on issues such as leadership development and educational achievement, sexual responsibility, sexism and misogyny, political education and social justice, Pan-African and Latino history, and global awareness. We provide four-six year rites of passage programming, after school care, school and home counseling, summer camps, job training, college preparation, employment opportunities, community organizing training, and international study programs to Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Bro/Sis is locally based, with a national reach, as we publish assorted curricula and collections of our members' writings; trains educators from throughout the nation on our approach; and advise on educational policy across the country and New York City.
Bro/Sis has earned national recognition for our evidence-based model, receiving awards from Oprah Winfrey, and institutions such as the Ford Foundation, Brown University and the New York State Department of Education, among others.
Please come out on May 12th and support our young people and this vision. You will be treated to a unique and wonderful experience.
